Adding Pressure Mapping to Kinematic Bikefitting

Masterclass: Kinematic meets Kinetic data

Have you been immersed in the world of bike fitting, relying primarily on motion capture for your bike fit set-up? While familiar with bony landmarks, do you feel there's a missing link to kinetic parameters?

Look no further – we're thrilled to present the perfect training opportunity: Our online Masterclass, "Adding Pressure Mapping to Kinematic Bikefitting," where we seamlessly integrate two worlds – kinematic data, as known from systems like Retül, Shimano, Trek Precision Fit, Velogicfit, STT, BG Fit, Bioracer, Dartfish, and more, with the gebioMized approach of pressure mapping at the key contact points between human and bike.

In what ways can parameters like Center of Pressure and Force on saddle contribute to fine-tuning decisions such as "optimal saddle height," "saddle to handlebar drop," and "knee positioning"?

The world of pressure mapping offers more than just colorful graphics. Understand the correlations between movement quality and Center of Pressure (COP), identify compensatory movements through kinematic values, and reinforce them through corresponding pressure measurement parameters. Elevate your fitting offerings to a new level, making the previously invisible, visible.

Over the five sessions, we'll explore the theoretical foundations of biomechanical parameters, establish connections between joint angles and pressure/force data, and showcase real-world case studies highlighting the synergies between these elements. Join us for a journey where theory meets practical application in the realm of biomechanics.

  • Intro: Bikefit protocols including kinematics and kinetics.
  • Movement Quality and Joint Angles.
  • How to Evaluate Contact Point Comfort?
  • The Pelvis as the Main Indicator for Compensation Movements.
  • Analyze and Optimize Pedaling Mechanics.
  • Balancing Dynamic Weight Distribution.

This Masterclass is designed for experienced bike fitters. Participants should bring experience in bike fitting with motion analysis, while familiarity with pressure measurement is not a prerequisite.

  • Bike-fitters with experience in fitting using kinematic information as the main driver (e.g., video analysis, motion capture).
  • Users of motion capture systems such as Retül, Shimano, Trek Precision Fit Velogicfit, STT, BG Fit, Bioracer, Dartfish, and similar.
  • Bike-fitters with experience in IMU analysis.
  • Fitters looking to delve into the possibilities of pressure mapping analysis.

Ready to take your bike fitting skills to the next level? Join our Masterclass and unlock the potential of combining kinematic and kinetic data for unparalleled precision and insights.

Discipline specific Bike Fitting

The different requirements

Cycling is changing – more and more discipline-specific bike types are developing. This also affects the work area and catalogue of requirements of bike fitting.

Gravel bikes, various MTB types, technologically fully integrated triathlon machines or diverse e-bike variants are streaming onto the market and eventually end up in the bike fitting labs.

But what distinguishes classic road bike fitting from the new generation of bikes? How do I assess the seating position and which parameters differ?

These are the questions we would like to address in our course. We will revisit the basics of bike fitting and apply them to the different bike categories. The result is a practice-oriented course that will appeal to both experienced bike fitters and those who are inexperienced in this area.
